Mediations

South Carolina requires parties to attempt settlement by negotiating through a trained neutral negotiator.

The parties must pay for the mediator. The advantage of mediation is many litigants settle their cases at mediation, saving the cost of the trial. The disadvantage of mediation is that it is still costly. Sometimes parties can reach partial settlements, making the trial of the case shorter than it would have been otherwise.
