Property Settlement

Property settlements are agreements regarding the equitable apportionment of property by the parties before trial.

Even if the parties settle the property issues, the family court must approve the agreement. To approve the agreement, the family court will want verification that the parties fully disclosed their financial conditions to each other, negotiated the agreement in good faith, and had the opportunity to have all of their legal questions about the agreement answered ahead of time.
